I can relate on the censorship issue, but it doesn't seem all that crazy to me for them to decide not to air content that could reasonably be construed as likely to instigate the deaths of hundreds of innocent people.
If it was the government, then yeah, I'd be pissed off. But it's their content and they can, frankly, do what they want with it. They paid for it, after all. And let's be fair here: how many times has CC censored South Park in it's 11(?) year history?
Ahh, the tacit is now understood. It's unfortunate that they 'took one for the man', but they are a 'free' cable channel; and I, for one, love what they're able to afford to do on the weekends. PS - Ya'll both kickass.
Airing the "offensive" content did not instigate deaths in the past. Comedy Central has shown images of Mohammed many times before. What changed? The riots were instigated by some very evil men who used half-truths and misdirection to do some good old-school rabble rousing.
(I'm not making this up. I'm also not providing any links, because fifteen seconds with Google will dig them up for you. Do your own homework; I did.)
By doing so, they have made all non-Muslims accept a little bit of Shariia into their lives, by practically pointing a gun at innocent Muslims and threatening to pull the trigger if we don't comply.
I'd also like to note that the Scientology thing has me angry as well. Think about it -- a religion can now only be a few decades old and have enough clout to censor us. That says something bad about religion as well as the state of our own First Amendment.
Do you see how bad things already are?
Sorry if I come off as extreme, but complacency is going to be the end of the United States. The fact that Comedy Central buckled just tells me that the terrorists are winning.
We as a nation are only fighting the War on Terror on the military front. We might even be winning that part of it. Meanwhile, we're losing where it really counts -- in our very hearts.
I am a veteran of the video games business. Three years ago, I decided to start playing poker online. I'd played lots of small stakes home games with friends and family over the years, and I enjoyed the game very much. Initially, I played online for entertainment. Then, later, after learning a bit more about the game, I decidd to get serious about it.
I think I'm a winning player. I just need to prove it. This is the journal of my experiences towards that endeavor.
